L.A.’s New Train Line is Looking Like a Game-Changer for Traffic and Tourism

This morning began with typical late spring fog over Santa Monica (locals call it “May gray”), but by noon it lifted, as if on cue, to welcome the beginning of rail service between the beach city and Downtown Los Angeles. Angelenos by the hundreds waited patiently to board the first trains heading east.

It was a moment decades in the making. Steve Hymon, blogger for L.A.’s Metropolitan Transit Authority’s the Source, wrote “I thought there was a better chance of a planetary takeover by the apes.”
