Film reviews by Andrew Bender
A filmmaker just can’t set out to make a cult film. Indeed, the directors of our Top 10 — featuring dwarves, bodacious dames and death-obsessed teens — were hoping for box office success like any filmmaker worth his (or her, although there are no female auteurs on this list) salt. Most of these films died horrible deaths at the box office but gained new life in the…afterlife. Who could have foreseen midnight moviegoers dressed as “sweet transvestites” and college courses on one schlubby guy in an ugly sweater? That’s the power of cult, baby. Narrowing the list down to a mere ten movies was a challenge, but one we enjoyed. We hope you like the results.
