Los Angeles May Put the Brakes on Uber and Lyft at LAX Airport

When Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti announced this April that ride share services Uber and Lyft would be allowed to pick up at Los Angeles International Airport, cheers and fanfare erupted from the traveling public. That anticipation only grew when LAX’s governing body approved the measure last month, to start in September.

Now the L.A. City Council is saying “not so fast.”

Yesterday, the Council voted to further examine the issue and decide whether to overrule the airport authority. The ride share companies’ permits are scheduled to be examined in committee on August 18, and the entire city council will rule at some point thereafter.
