With all the focus on Uber and Lyft these days, I was astounded to learn of another, practically free, ride sharing concept hiding in plain sight. In San Francisco, they call it casual carpooling. In Washington, D.C., it’s called sluglining. Whatever you call it, this under-the-radar system is ride sharing in its purest form, and it’s been helping commuters beat traffic for decades.
