Hertz Rent-a-Car made headlines earlier this month when USA Today reported that it was charging $9.29 per gallon to refuel cars returned less than full. That was more than twice the average gas price nationwide of $3.98 (it’s now down to $3.78). Which leads to the question: why would anyone choose this option?
