Commercial Flights to Resume to Cuba, Expect More Convenience and Lower Fares

Pack your guayabera or sundress, and get ready to sip mojitos in old Havana. Travel between the U.S. and Cuba looks like it’s about to get a lot easier, and probably cheaper too.

“We are excited to announce the availability of new scheduled air service opportunities to Cuba for U.S. carriers, shippers and the traveling public,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx. An agreement announced yesterday with Cuban travel authorities will re-establish commercial flights between the two countries after a gap of over 50 years. Currently only charter flights operate on these routes.
