For 8 days each year, tiny, don’t-blink-or-you’ll-miss-it, Gerlach, Nevada (population 107) is as close as one can get to the coolest place on earth, Black Rock City, the temporary, nearly 79,000-person community better known as Burning Man.
But not this year. Just as COVID-19 canceled about every other gathering during 2020, it also claimed the in-person Burning Man (a virtual event is in the works).
